NASCAR needs to go back to the single run system for all races for the season. If you've got a fast car, you deserve the poll; none of this lucky follow the leader crud they're doing now. And who came up with this idea in the first place? Take a guess...

So Gordon gets the 500 pole, and Johnson gets 2nd; rest of the field is sorted by the Duels, correct?

I don't mind group qualifying for nonplate tracks, but this was stupid.

Is it just me, or does the 500 pole winner always seem to be perfect? This year, Jeff won it in his final season, Austin Dillon won it last year in the #3's first race back, Danica won it in her first 500 two years ago, etc. NASCAR couldn't make it more picturesque if they tried.

And Dale Jr won the pole 10 years after the death of his father. I remember then people thought it was fixed.

Now if they were perfect, Mark Martin would've won that 500 over Harvick. When was that, '07?

And you know what the funny part of that is? Danica and Austin both ended up struggling those years as well! Same can be said for Carl Edwards in 2012, Dale Jr. in 2011, Mark Martin in 2010, and Martin Truex Jr. in 2009. EDIT: Well now that I think about it, Jr. did make the Chase for the first time in three years in 2011, and he ended up finishing 7th in points, so it wasn't a complete struggle.

Great to see the 44 get their backup ready.

Great to see the 44 get their backup ready. Agreed. But the odds are still stacked against them. The field for the 500 seems pretty strong this year. Hopefully they can race their way in.

Danica wrecks in practice, and the first thing she asks is, "who hit me?" Always has to blame someone else...
