Recently more and more details of the upcoming NASCAR HEAT EVOLUTION game have been released via the DMR NASCAR Heat twitter account @dmrnascarheat.
If you have not heard by now the game will not support split screen multiplayer, it will also only have the Sprint Cup series. Most importantly to the members of this forum... the game WILL NOT feature a paint booth!!!
Citing popular developer excuses like "This is a something we hope to add in a future game." and "In order to get it right, we had to postpone it for a future game." Its hard not to have flashbacks to the ETX era of nascar gaming.
I can get past no split screen and multiple series on a first outing, but no paint booth... when they own the rights and code from NASCAR '14 and '15 which had a paint booth that was arguably the only reliable game mode in the game...
Pretty much answers my questions on wanting to pre-order. NASCAR HEAT de-evolution will be released on 9-13-16
What do you guys think?

I won't be getting it at all... I barely have time to play anymore. When I do, I use the paint booth as a stress relief. So this is a big disappointment.

I agree with having flashbacks to the ETX era, but I'm not going to judge until the game gets closer to release. It totally sucks they're not going to include a paint booth. There's no excuse for that. However, that just means I'll get some extra use out of NASCAR '15, '14, Inside Line, and heck, maybe even '11.
As for Sprint Cup only (again), it is pretty frustrating. That should have been done right all along so at this point they'd easily be able to add the other series. But no. Hopefully the gameplay is good enough we won't even notice.
As for no local multiplayer, meh, no one in my house besides me would want to play anyway. I race almost exclusively online anyway, aside from when I want to play Dirt to Daytona.
That brings me to my final point: the same people that helped make freaking Dirt to Daytona (Monster Games) are working on Heat Evolution. That already makes up for any negatives. But I will say this... they better not mess up this opportunity or NASCAR-only games might be near the end of the road.

I do have to agree with you on the fact that they better not mess up this opportunity. Honestly after the track record ETX had, I am surprised they were able to get out as many games as they did. I am not sure Monster/DMR will have the same luxury. If they dont make a solid game out of the gate they might just be one and done. Which is why all of this news is upsetting but hopefully a good thing in the long run...
Split screen, meh no big deal I only ever used it for taking pictures of multiple paint schemes. Seriously not a loss at all IMO, just play online or LAN.
Cup only, I am 50/50 on. Having to create all the extra models and physics so they actually drive different is very important and I understand giving them one title to get the basics solid first (I'm looking at you online game play). I just hope it isn't like ETX that went on saying "we want to get "X" right and add "Y" later" then five games later still asking why the heck "Y" is nowhere to be seen and "X" still doesn't work right.
Its the lack of a paint booth that actually makes me apprehensive for the game. For one, I love me my paint booth time. Need for Speed, Forza, etc I spend just as much time creating liveries than actually racing them, that's just my play style. Second, it was the best working feature from the ETX games, I'm sure there is a solid reason that they couldn't just port it in to the new game but it really feels like a step backwards. Lastly and most importantly for me... It kills immersion in the game, this tells me that the game will be pick a favorite driver to quick race with or at best a season mode. Because even if they call it a career mode its just a repetitive season mode if you are not creating your own identity, working up the ranks and upgrading your car and team.
Its just a bummer when a game you have really been looking forward to goes from, I must preorder to a wait and see title. Which this now is for me.
Lastly one thing I do not want them to do is try to shoehorn a paint booth in last minute or try and add it in as a DLC as many people messaging me have suggested trying to campaign for.

Yeah if they can't put in the paint booth, they can't put in the paint booth. I'd rather they get it right like they mentioned instead of listening to the fans and possibly adding a rushed one. I'm definitely bummed we're going to be custom scheme-less on the new game. It'll probably really hit me once the game comes out. If you think of all the things that the PS4 can do (with graphics, etc) and not take that opportunity to add a paint booth, that's gonna hurt a little. I'm just hoping that's the only opportunity they miss. Like you said, this cannot become like ETX. The future of NASCAR games is in the hands of DMR.

This game honestly looks like NASCAR Dirt to Daytona / NASCAR HEAT's modernization, which neither had a real "paint booth" (I think that DtD had something a bit more complex than EA's) which makes the graphic package and engine sound make sense.
It's been so long since I've played a NASCAR game, let alone the paint booth, that I forgot how bad the ETX games got. Watkins Glen was incredibly inaccurate, NH and Martinsville are undrivable, and overall the game was lacklustre. I'm disappointed to hear no paint booth, but honestly I am looking forward to this game being the most nostalgic game on the Xbox 1 or PS4.
The really big thing is I hope soon the addition of NXS and Trucks can be added, especially Eldora since DtD had dirt. I know it took EA until 2004 to include the 3 major series and the modifieds. I think they can wait until they get the racing portion of the game down pat with the engine of the actual game. Once that is taken care of, adding series is the only next option.
