Well, this is quite interesting. A Chase in Xfinity, a Chase in Trucks, Heat races in Xfinity, a Caution Clock in Trucks, what's next? Blue shells for every driver behind 20th to throw at the Top 10?

More like the day Brian France put the final nail in the coffin. This is all absolute bull$h!t. Does "eliminating Cup drivers from the lower series" not ring a bell?

The reason they cannot eliminate cup drivers totally is because of the Almighty dollar. JRM is a perfect example. Because JRM has their Allstar race car they were able to get the sponsors to sign off on 10 races for Alex Bowman. That would not have happened had it not been for Harvick, Jr, and Kahne and Chase racing in some.

WARNING LONG READ
The main reason is cup drivers in the lower series sells race day tickets. Then there is the reason they tell us all which is its good for the up and coming drivers to race against them. Which I would agree with if/when half the field isn't cup drivers and the rest of the field have cars that can keep up. Which is rare unless they are teammates to the cup drivers.
I don't think they should ban cup drivers all together but maybe limit the number that can enter a race or the number of races a year a cup driver can race in the lower series...
As far as the announced changes I am waiting to see before I form an opinion. At first I was against the caution clock but after thinking about how it will play out I am ok with it.
The caution clock- Think about it... the truck series hardly ever goes 20 minutes with out a caution the first half of a race. So ultimately I do not see this being a factor but maybe once or twice a race. Even then or if I am wrong I think it will make for stronger races. Since these are mostly up and coming drivers the chance to adjust the truck will help them learn how to make changes and create more competitive racing by the second half of the season. Also I wasn't against the idea Bruton Smith purposed a few years back with scheduled cautions. I would rather see a race play out in quarters than have mystery debris cautions
The Xfinity heat races- These actually sound like something good to increase tv ratings. The new F1 style qualifying they introduced was defiantly more interesting to watch over single car runs. So actually seeing racing could only be better. Plus I like how it is only for the dash for cash races. Lastly it is going back to the roots of racing where most local tracks run heat races to set the field.
The playoffs- I was not a fan of the chase, still not when looking at it on paper. i was not happy hearing when they changed it to the elimination style, but... Lets be honest here it really has added something to the end of the season worth watching and talking about. The end of the year in the late 90s was pretty boring, hearing clinch scenarios for the championship weeks before the season ended took a lot away from the racing.
