I am interested to hear some feedback on my car. My scores were all over the place, with a high of 3 and a low of 12

I too, would like some feedback. I've already discussed some things concerning number size and decal placement with NightOwl, but the more the merrier.

I wasn't a fan of the base scheme with some curved shapes and some straight. It just went against consistency. I am never a fan of base schemes changing under sponsor logos also. I liked the diamond fade effect you did on the side skirt. If that was part of the rest of the base it might have had more impact.

My scores were all over the place, with a high of 3 and a low of 12 Your Budweiser logo was on point--I'd go as far as to say it was the best in the whole field. The base scheme is what brought your score down on my ballot. Having a few primitives placed on the fenders isn't going to do well against people like Hartwig or Spud. I feel like Bud should have simple schemes, so I would suggest eliminating the white altogether and just leaving the red gradients you had. Color the side fins and other trim white, and you've got a very nice, simple scheme. Again, the logo was great, the base just needs a bit of work. I'd like some C&C on my entry also.

You say my sponsor should have a simple base but yet my base seemed to simple but I should have gone simpler? Still a 13.5 is more than just base scheme issues.
I am not a fan of overly busy base schemes. They seem to be out of date anyways compared to cars on the track. I thought the white especially on the the front of the car gave the base an aggressive look. I am just not sure a less is more situation would have done better for me on the scores. I started with a mostly red car and it seemed unfinished. I am glad you can see the work that went into the logo that was a 6 brush logo due to the 120 layer limit and I really didn't see any other logos in the field that would require that kind of effort.

I'd like some C&C on my entry also. I liked you car, the base seemed a little busy however. It had an aggressive feel with the triangles giving it the look of speed except in front of the rear wheel. having those few going the other way took away from the scheme. I did like the tire treed effect but I am just not sure it was wide enough. I also thought that the gradients on the green house seemed out of place with the rest of the scheme.

I'll throw myself to the pack for some feedback. I'm on mobile right now, I'll give some feedback when I get back to my desktop.

The overall appeareance is kinda good imo. You should place your decals more accurately and you need stronger outlines on your base scheme, your decals and your number.

I agree with energy here. The Bud decal is awesome. Cars with such a detailed sponsor need plain base schemes. i had a plain sponsor decal and went wild on my base.

The number could have been a tad bigger for my taste and the roof number would have been much better with a darker colour. (green or even red) It's all about contrast...

714- I loved your car. Your Budweiser wordmark is dead on and I was in awe when I saw it. I was guessing 3 brushes, now knowing it was double that makes me respect it even more. Your base is clean and fits the sponsor like a glove. With as close as this race was, as good as everyone’s entries were at some point you have to split hairs to break multiple-way ties. For me, I didn’t like the sharp white corners, the white “horns” on the hood and the sharp upturn moving forward from the rear wheels. I took those points out of the originality category but hindsight it should have come out of base, but in the end it would have been the same final score. TO ME, whatever that’s worth, it didn’t fit with the flow you created with everything else. I bumped up your overall number for showing proper flag etiquette on the passenger side, something that often gets overlooked.
Energy – Another quality car per your standard. I hated to rate you so far down the finish but 4-8 in my finishing order were separated by half a point and you fell right in the middle of all that. I liked the tire tread design going down the sides but not so much the one bisecting the hood, it just seemed out of place.
Kane – Which car? …..Too soon? lol Im kidding, That Jimmy Johns scheme was slick. I’m convinced you had it ready to go, but if you were able to throw that together in the 24 or so hours then I’d be even more impressed. At first I didn’t understand the stars in the red until I look around at Jimmy Johns and noticed there are subtle stars in their livery, so that was a nice touch. The roof and top portion of the C-Pillar, to me, should be black. just seems to me it would flow better.
IJARD- Solid car for your first start. The base looks good and has a nice flow to it. I feel your pain trying to take good pictures from the XBOX and have started taking that into account when I’m painting. At random points throughout my process I will take the car to the track that It’ll race at and take some pictures. That way I can compensate to make sure the details are seen. Your ASUS brush looks a little thick to me, but other than that, I think you had a very respectable debut.

@714:Your car was great, but I have seen much better from you! I agree with everyone that your Budweiser logo is by far the best logo in Race 1, and one of the best I've seen so far in '14, but when it comes to the base scheme, I agree with what the others have said. I didn't care for the sharp white shapes or the horns on the car. I wish it would have been more simple and smooth! I scored your logos 5.5/5, but when we have to score based on 4 categories, you can't count on logos alone.
@leadfoot: A few suggestions...Make a custom number, and give it a thicker outline, if not 2 or 3 different outlines and a shadow. Be sure to take into consideration, the mirror effect towards the rear of the car doesn't work properly. You may need to do each side seperatly to make it perfect. Look at pictures of actual Nascar race cars, learn decal placement and how big/small to make decals. Be creative, don't be afraid to try something new or daring! By trying new things is how you'll get better!
nightowl: Your car was really good for the first race. I thought the time you must have put into the car was well worth the effort. Your logos looked good, but you should have added some more secondary or team logos in some of the empty spots on the scheme. And I know it's all about the angles and trying to make it fit right, but your 7up logo on the drivers side looks much bigger compared to the passenger side.
@kane: Your JJ car was great! The only thing keeping me from scoring it higher was the lack of difficult logos. Don't get me wrong, your logos were spot on, but compared to some of the cars scored in my top 5, their logos were a lot harder to create. When it came down to it, it simply came down to that and that alone, complexity of brushes. Your base scheme was classic Kane style, and was great! And the overall look of the car was great!
@ijard: For your very first entry into PBC, you did awesome! Car base scheme was great, and the colors really popped and grabbed my attention. I really like your number style, and you have great outlines on it as well. The only thing I would recommend working on is your logos. You could clean them up just a little and spend some extra time making them perfect. One other thing that caught my eye was that the ASUS logo over the rear wheels should have been centered over the wheels, it was too far back. I would also say to turn on the ethanol ring logo in your settings. And you also had the #14 on the front nose of the car?
Best of luck to everyone in Race #2 @ Bristol!
And if anyone wants to give me some advise on how to make my car better, or tell me what you liked or didn't like, let me hear it!
